From July 2 to July 9, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an eight-day diplomatic visit spanning two continents. This marks his longest foreign tour in the last ten years.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the countries included in the tour are:

Trinidad and Tobago

 July 2–3: Ghana Visit

PM Modi will begin his tour in Ghana. This will be India’s first bilateral visit to Ghana in 30 years.

Furthermore he will meet with President John Mahama and discuss strengthening cooperation in economic, energy, and defense sectors.

July 3–4: Trinidad and Tobago Visit

On July 3 and 4, Modi will visit Trinidad and Tobago. He will be the first Indian PM to visit the country since 1999.

He will meet President Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, and is also expected to address a joint session of the parliament.

According to MEA, this visit will reinforce the deep-rooted historical ties between India and Trinidad & Tobago.

 July 4–5: Argentina Visit

Next, PM Modi will travel to Argentina where he will hold wide-ranging talks with President Javier Milei.

Topics will include cooperation in defense, agriculture, mining, oil & gas, renewable energy, trade, and investments.

This visit aims to further deepen the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Argentina.

 July 5–8: Brazil Visit & BRICS Summit

From July 5 to 8, Modi will be in Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

This will be Modi’s fourth visit to Brazil as Prime Minister. During the summit, Modi will engage in high-level discussions on:

Global governance reforms

Peace and security

Responsible use of Artificial Intelligence

Climate action

Global health systems

Economic and financial stability

Modi is also expected to hold multiple bilateral meetings on the sidelines and later travel to Brasilia for in-depth talks with President Lula on enhancing cooperation in trade, defense, energy, space, agriculture, and people-to-people exchange.

July 8–9: Namibia Visit

In the final leg of the tour, PM Modi will visit Namibia. This will be only the third-ever Indian prime ministerial visit to the country.

He will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and is also expected to address the Namibian Parliament.

Furthermore MEA described this visit as a reaffirmation of India’s deep-rooted and historic ties with Namibia.

In 2015, PM Modi visited 26 countries, which drew political criticism from opposition parties.

July 2015, he toured Russia and five Central Asian nations.

In 2016, he visited USA, Mexico, Switzerland, Afghanistan, and Qatar.

He also made an unplanned visit to Pakistan to wish then-PM Nawaz Sharif on his birthday—an effort for peace, which unfortunately didn’t yield results.

So India responded firmly after the Uri attack in 2016, carried out surgical strikes in 2019, and launched Operation Sindoor in 2025 to counter Pakistan’s hostile actions.
